The Northwest Ohio Guardianship Services Board, Inc. (NWOGSB) is a non-profit organization committed to serving the mentally incompetent, developmentally disabled and otherwise qualified individuals of Defiance, Fulton and Williams counties requiring guardianship services for who such services are not otherwise available.
The NWOGSB strives to balance protection with individual autonomy by serving the health and safety of the wards while safeguarding their individual rights and preserving their dignity and independence whenever possible.
What an amazing year of learning and growth! We started everything from the ground up and we are off and running. We have exceeded our expectations concerning the number of persons we serve. The most pressing issue we are facing is unstable housing. Regularly we are tasked with helping people find and maintain safe, affordable housing. Sometimes this can be worked out quickly and sometimes it requires the input of multiple agencies, so networking has been key to our initial year. Additionally, we have learned how to access items ranging from clothing to beds to cleaning products. We also spend time connecting people with services and then working with those services to ensure their needs are being met. Lastly, we have been able to spend time with each ward to ensure their voices are being heard and they have access to everything possible to live their best lives.
We are proud to partner with a variety of organizations and businesses to support our community. Our partnerships enable us to expand our reach and provide even more resources and services to those in need. The NWOGSB acknowledges its founding members; Four County ADAMhs Board, Defiance County Commissioners, Defiance County Probate Court, Defiance County Board of DD, Fulton County Probate Court, Fulton County Board of DD, Williams County Probate Court and Williams County Board of DD
